HPC Systems, Inc. Boosts the Performance of its Server and Workstation Products by Incorporating Quad-Core AMD Opteron™ Processors

Fremont, California, September 10, 2007 - HPC Systems, Inc. today announced it will incorporate Quad-Core AMD Opteron™ processors across its entire line of high performance servers and workstation products.

HPC Systems, Inc. continues to provide its customers with the latest in industry-leading technologies. By supporting Quad-Core AMD Opteron processors across its product lines, HPC Systems, Inc. ensures that its customers have the option to choose the technology that best meets their needs in terms of performance and value.

The latest server, workstation and storage products from HPC Systems, Inc. are designed to fully support AMD’s full line up of AMD Opteron processors. Ideal for a broad range of applications, server and storage products from HPC Systems, Inc are deployed by our customers in a wide variety of IT environments – from email servers to high-end high performance compute cluster for oil and gas exploration, drug discovery, computational fluid dynamics, financial market analysis, virtualization, multimedia and animation and database applications.

HPC Systems, Inc. offers bundled solutions for the best out-of-the-box experience and the flexibility of custom builds to meet the requirements of our customers.

Powered by Quad-Core AMD Opteron processors, HPC Systems, Inc.’s flagship product A5808-32, an 8-socket AMD Opteron processor-based server, offers the power of 32 processing cores combined with 256 GB of memory, making it an ideal platform for virtualization, enterprise database and applications, desktop supercomputing and high-end rendering workstations when bundled with appropriate add-on cards.

We are also very excited to announce the availability of Quad-Core AMD Opteron processors in dense blade compute form factors, supporting up to 160 processing cores in a compact, cable optimized, Infiniband ready, managed 7U form factor.

“With customer-centric enhancements like Dual-Dynamic Power Management and AMD CoolCore™ technology, as well as core and cache enhancements and a native multi-core architecture, Quad-Core AMD Opteron processors help better address our customers’ need for high levels of performance in the same footprint,” said Kalyana Chadalavada, Director - Systems & Technology, HPC Systems, Inc. “We primarily serve the scientific computing and research community working on complex problems. The enhancements in the new native Quad-Core AMD Opteron processors are definitely a big step forward in meeting their needs – better performance without the need to revamp their full data center infrastructure like power and cooling. Better performance, out of the box. We are also very excited with the new standards in performance-per-watt capabilities.”

“Utilizing Quad-Core AMD Opteron processors across their entire line of solutions will help HPC Systems, Inc. better address the computing demands of the scientific and research community,” said Patrick Patla, Director of Product Management, Server/Workstation Division, AMD (NYSE: AMD).  “The combination of the new scalable memory controller and improved Floating Point Unit capabilities can help increase performance and efficiency for many HPC workloads, and AMD’s native quad-core architecture make Quad-Core AMD Opteron processors a superior processor for the HPC community.”
