| The FlexStor-NAS™ 1200 Xeon Serial ATA RAID NAS is a high-availability NAS server that incorporates storage capacities of 432GB to 3,000GB (3 TB) with the latest NAS and Serial ATA RAID technologies. That is up to 3 TeraBytes of fault-tolerant data storage in a convenient, space-saving 3U Rackmount chassis with hot-swappable drive trays, redundant 650 Watt N+1 power supplies, mirrored OS drives separate from storage array, and an advanced cooling system. |
Not only is your data protected with your choice of RAID 1, 5 or 10, but you can also manage your file server easily and remotely with a web browser over your company's network. What's more, the FlexStor-NAS 1200 Xeon RAID NAS comes standard with a CD ROM, eliminating the hassle of trying to hook up an external CD ROM to your NAS server every time you want to install a new piece of software like many other NAS appliances currently on the market. Installation and setup are a breeze, allowing the FlexStor-NAS 1200 Xeon RAID NAS to be up and running in about 15 minutes after it is unpacked from the box.
The FlexStor-NAS 1200 Xeon RAID NAS comes populated with fourteen hard disk drives. Twelve of these drives are used for the RAID array, and the NAS operating system is mirrored on two hot-swappable 36GB 10,000RPM WD Raptor™ SATA disk drives with hardware RAID 1 to maintain maximum uptime. This gives you the full RAID storage capacity for your data. Plus, this dedicated file server can be easily expanded to capacities up to 15 TeraBytes by connecting it to 1 to 3 Enterprise™ 16000 RAID RAID subsystems. Available upgrade options include Dual Xeon, Fibre Gigabit Ethernet, as well as up to 2 cold spare storage array disk drives installed in the unit for the simple field replacement of failed drives. | The FlexStor-NAS™ brings new levels of reliability through patented switched architecture that exceeds SCSI and Fibre loop storage systems. Both SCSI and Fibre loop exhibit a problem commonly known as the "Christmas tree light syndrome" whereby any single drive failure can bring the entire storage system down. In this scenario RAID features fail to make the data available. The FlexStor-NAS brings switching to the drive. Because each drive on the array is electrically and mechanically isolated from each other, any drive failure will simply make that drive unavailable and the rest of the storage system remains undisturbed. In addition, FlexStor-NAS implements levels of Advanced Data Protection (ADP) that further protect you from data loss. In ADP Level-1 all drive commands are checked to insure that no command corruption has taken place over the drive interface. FlexStor-NAS also uses a Web-based storage management utility notifies you of drive failures via e-mail and audible alerts, providing a simple interface for managing your storage. FlexStor-NAS also delivers advanced features like hot swap and hot spare so that the replacement of a failed drive can be accomplished without disrupting the operation of the entire system. |
