|
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION |
| The StorBank™ 400 Xeon RAID NAS is a high-availability 1U Xeon NAS server that incorporates Serial ATA storage capacities of 144GB to 1,000GB (1TB) with the latest NAS and RAID technologies. High performance features include choice of single or dual Xeon processors, up to 12GB RAM and dual 10/100/1000 copper gigabit Ethernet connectivity. Data protection is ensured with a hardware RAID 5 controller, and all 4 disk drives are hot-swappable from the front of the unit. |
What's more, the StorBank 400 Xeon RAID NAS comes standard with CD-ROM and floppy disk drives, eliminating the hassle of trying to hook up an external CD-ROM or floppy to your NAS server every time you want to install a new piece of software like many other NAS appliances currently on the market. Installation and setup are a breeze, allowing the StorBank 400 Xeon RAID NAS to be up and running in about 15 minutes after it is unpacked from the box.
Not only is the StorBank 400 Xeon RAID NAS great as a stand-alone network-attached storage device, but it is also highly expandable as well. With the optional Ultra160 or Ultra320 SCSI controller, you can connect one or more direct-attached RAID subsystems to the StorBank 400 to vastly increase your available fault-tolerant storage capacities. Or for even higher throughput, choose the optional 2Gb Optical Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapter available with either single, dual or quad-ports -- allowing you to expand the StorBank 400 with up to 4 Fibre Channel RAID subsystems scaling up to an additional 16TB of storage. Whether you are building your company's network from the ground up, or just need to add more storage to your existing network, the StorBank 400 Xeon 1U RAID NAS Server is an ideal solution for diverse environments. |

| TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS |
| RAID Technology |
The StorBank™ brings new levels of reliability through patented switched architecture that exceeds SCSI and Fibre loop storage systems. Both SCSI and Fibre loop exhibit a problem commonly known as the "Christmas tree light syndrome" whereby any single drive failure can bring the entire storage system down. In this scenario RAID features fail to make the data available. The StorBank brings switching to the drive. Because each drive on the array is electrically and mechanically isolated from each other, any drive failure will simply make that drive unavailable and the rest of the storage system remains undisturbed. In addition, StorBank implements levels of Advanced Data Protection (ADP) that further protect you from data loss. In ADP Level-1 all drive commands are checked to insure that no command corruption has taken place over the drive interface. StorBank also uses a Web-based storage management utility notifies you of drive failures via e-mail and audible alerts, providing a simple interface for managing your storage. StorBank also delivers advanced features like hot swap and hot spare so that the replacement of a failed drive can be accomplished without disrupting the operation of the entire system.
With StorBank integrated RAID technology, you can now surpass the performance of any SCSI controller available. The StorBank architecture is implemented with an 800 MB/sec switch fabric that allows parallel accesses to all drives simultaneously, yielding lower latency and increased data transfer rates for optimal application performance. No other storage solution offers the performance and features that Dynamic Network Factory delivers in the StorBank. |

| LINUX OPERATING SYSTEM DETAILS |
| StorBank™ NAS Operating System |
| |
| StorBank NAS, one of our network attached storage solution families, accelerates the creation of high-performance file servers that leverage Intel-based hardware architectures. StorBank NAS consists of a streamlined operating system and suite of modular software products that extend its capabilities. |
 |
| |
| These high availability features include: |
- A journaling file system - for faster recovery from system crashes and power losses
- Web-based management console - to greatly simplify user and administrative tasks by hiding the complexities of storage internals.
- Online file system resizing - for scalability of storage volumes with minimal administrative effort.
- Multi-protocol support - for heterogeneous network communications and file sharing (NFS, CIFS, Apple Talk).
- Snapshots - for intelligent, scheduled backups of live systems with very little overhead and downtime.
StorBank NAS is an advanced operating system solution. It utilizes an advanced, modular architecture for the creation of customized high-performance file servers in multi-protocol client environments. StorBank NAS adopts Snapshot technology as a core component to extend its Enterprise Ready journal file system. In addition, custom integration of logical volume management adds the ability to seamlessly enlarge an active data partition online without loss of access to data. Disk space can be allocated on a user-by-user basis using a quota mechanism that works with file sharing protocols such as NFS, CIFS (Microsoft Windows), Apple Talk, and HTTP. Just as importantly, a custom developed GUI interface delivers easy to use management features right out of the box. The StorBank NAS features are easy to use with a graphical management interface and integrated snapshots. |

| Snapshot Technology and Administration |
| Integrated Snapshot Technology brings you the ability to capture and retain multiple "snapshot" versions of files and directories in a journal file system. A snapshot records the state of a file system at a specific point in time. Snapshots enable administrators to shorten the infamous "backup window" for mission critical systems, quickly restore system configurations even if the machine has become unbootable, and schedule automatic online backups that consume minimal storage space. Users can also securely access snapshots to recover lost or corrupted files without having to ask for help from an administrator. The snapshot technology is ideal for efficient online backup and recovery, system restorations, storage and organization of disk images, shorter backup windows, and full system rollbacks. The bundled Snapshot tools use a simple GUI management scheme allowing scheduled and immediate snapshot creation and maintenance, and recovery services at the user or administrator level. The Snapshot system also offers command line administration, tools for report generation and rollback services, and system recovery. The system management GUI can be accessed from major web browsers including Internet Explorer, Netscape and Mozilla. The system also offers email notification, share manager, SSL encryption, SNMP V3, MIB II, SMART Disk Error Report and environmental monitoring of hardware. |

| File System-Based Snapshots |
 |
| |
 |
- Full access work to current data on the file system (Real Time)
- Frozen point-in-time images are read-only and available for rollback (System Clone)
- Users can access snapshots from the file system via .snap directories (unless they are hidden by the administrator)
- This allows users themselves to recover files without administrator involvement
